Linguard has 24 as UTSA knocks off Rice 89-82 in OT

HOUSTON – Carlton Linguard scored 24 points as UTSA beat Rice 89-82 in overtime on Saturday night.

The game was played at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center on the campus of St. Thomas because of water damage at Tudor Fieldhouse, Rice's homecourt. Only 1,424 were able to see the game at the smaller gym. Tudor Fieldhouse has a capacity of 5,208.

Linguard shot 8 for 13 (4 for 8 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line for the Roadrunners (7-8, 1-1 American Athletic Conference). Dre Fuller Jr. scored 23 points while going 8 of 17 (5 for 9 from 3-point range), and added three steals. Jordan Ivy-Curry had 15 points and was 3 of 9 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 8 for 9 from the line, including two with three seconds left in regulation to force the overtime tied at 77..

Travis Evee finished with 25 points for the Owls (6-9, 0-2). Mekhi Mason added 22 points and three steals for Rice. In addition, Noah Shelby finished with 12 points.

UTSA plays Memphis on the road on Wednesday, and Rice visits South Florida on Friday.
