SAN ANTONIO – Meet Instant Replay’s newest Scholar Athlete of the Week: Christian Altamirano of Southwest Legacy High School.
Christian is the captain and four-year member of the varsity tennis team. He’s been named Second-Team All-District, First-Team All-District and Academic All-District and Academic All-State. He’s received the Titan Award and is a seasonal lifeguard. He also performs community service through the San Antonio Community Kitchen. Christian maintains a 3.89 GPA and is ranked eleventh in his class. Christian is already enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard and plans to study Chemical Biology.
WHAT MEMORIES DO YOU TAKE AWAY WITH YOU AS YOU LEAVE HIGH SCHOOL?
“The last four years, we were able to go on many trips, especially since we were saving up during football season. Once our spring season came in, we were able to go to Port Aransas and able to go out with the team and explore. We were able to meet a lot of top notch players and just bond, have fun, it was a good time.”
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS?
“Attempt to finish all your work first then play games if you want to or read a book. Take care of things inside the classroom first because you are always a student.”
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER YOU GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL?
“I’m already enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard and I want to go to San Antonio College and complete a firefighting training course. I also want to get into the field of Chemical Biology.”
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR PARENTS OR TEACHERS OR COACHES?
“To the coaches here, thank you for helping me the last four years. Most of the things I have achieved I wouldn’t have been able to achieve without you. I appreciate and thank all of you for the hard work and sacrifices you have done for me.”
