Murder of 18-year-old woman on Southwest Side remains unsolved two years later
SAN ANTONIO โ Next week marks two years since the unsolved murder of Abigail โAbbyโ Alcorta. The 18-year-old was killed while sitting in an SUV near Fairshire and Five Palms Dr. on the Southwest Side in 2019. She and a friend were hit by gunfire as a black vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. Alcorta and the friend were both hit and rushed to University Hospital, where she later died. As the investigation began, police had very little evidence to go on and a shortage of witnesses.
Murder case of 17-year-old girl remains unsolved 26 years later
SAN ANTONIO The Texas Rangers cold case unit has dozens of unsolved cases and one of those is that of 17-year-old Samantha Zublionis. Back in August 1994, Zublionis was starting her senior year at MacArthur High School and a new job at Wendys on Nacogdoches Road and Loop 410. The Texas Rangers took over the investigation but with few details or evidence, the case went cold. This case remains unsolved. A year later and no arrests in murder of 20-year-old San Antonio man

East Side murder in 2018 remains unsolved with no leads
SAN ANTONIO โ Itโs a crime that has left police with no leads and no suspect. 36-year old David Benavides was found dead in the 700 block of Runnels Avenue in the early morning hours of Jan. 24, 2018. More 'severely emaciated' dogs found at house of woman with history of animal mistreatment
WILSON COUNTY โ A Wilson County woman who last year surrendered more than 70 dogs to a shelter was arrested Saturday on an animal cruelty charge after police found more malnourished animals at her residence. Glori Penshorn was booked into the Wilson County jail on the misdemeanor charge after investigators discovered 11 dogs at her home. The dogs are now at the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter, according to Facebook posts. A post from the shelter said the dogs were "severely emaciated, covered in fleas, have mange, hair loss, and hookworms. Seventy-four were removed from her home after the Wilson County Sheriff's Office received complaints from neighborhood residents.
SAPD: Police searching for driver who hit, killed motorcyclist, took off
SAN ANTONIO โ Police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck who they said hit and killed a motorcyclist Saturday night. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the motorcyclist killed as 50-year-old Gilberto Plaza. Gary Mucho said it's unclear whether Plaza was hit while working on his bike on the side of U.S. Highway 281 South near Mission Grande, or whether he was hit while riding. Nevertheless, Mucho said witnesses saw the driver of a pickup truck hit the motorcyclist and continue driving. Mucho said investigators are interviewing several witnesses.
Man points shotgun at store clerk, demands money, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A man armed with a shotgun is accused of robbing a Food Mart in the 1400 block of West Mariposa Drive on July 22. The man pointed a shotgun at a clerk and a customer, demanding money from the register, police said. The man took the money from the register and got into a getaway car, pictured above. There is a cash reward for anyone with information leading to the identification of the man with the shotgun and the driver. Information can be reported at 210-224-STOP (7867).
Driver who hit, killed SA teacher four years ago still at large
SAN ANTONIO โ A search for a hit-and-run driver continues four years after a beloved teacher was killed back in 2015. In the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2015, 38-year-old Vanessa Puente and a friend were walking along Silver Maple Street, just off Potranco Road in far west Bexar County. Deputies arrived to find Puente on the ground, and she was taken to University Hospital where she later died. Days after her death, Puente's family and friends passed out fliers and talked to residents in west Bexar County trying to find out any information. Duo accused of embezzling $10,000 from Pleasanton VFW post
PLEASANTON, Texas โ Two officials of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Pleasanton were arrested Wednesday after police accused them of embezzling $10,000 from the organization. Steve Mueller, 45, and Stephanie Pino, 50, were both charged with misapplication of fiduciary funds, a state jail felony. Mueller served as the post commander, while Pino served as a post adjutant and quartermaster, according to a news release from the police department. Police began their investigation in March, when another VFW official discovered that $10,000 was "misused," according to the news release. After months of investigation and speaking to witnesses, police obtained arrest warrants for the duo and brought them into custody.
Customer remembers 2001 double murder in Chinese restaurant
SAN ANTONIO โ On April 23, 2001 a horrible murder took place at the Asian Garden restaurant located at 8015 Bandera Road. SAPD asks community to help with cracking down on gang activity
The San Antonio Police Department is asking for community involvement in an effort to crack down on gang activity. โYouโll hear from (William) McManus on several occasions (saying) that you cannot arrest the problem away,โ said Officer Doug Greene, a spokesperson for SAPD. According to Greene, gang activity is happening in every part of the city and itโs coming in waves. What we are finding is that the majority of these victims and suspects are young people. They are teenagers and in their early 20s, so we see that a lot of our kids in this community need mentors.โ
Man police say was fatally shot after college party identified
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Police Department is looking for the suspect or suspects involved in a shooting near the University of Texas San Antonio. Police responded to a call in the 15600 block of Chase Hill Boulevard around 3 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Delvin Scott shot in the chest near his car, according to police. The shooting stemmed from an argument at a college party at the Maverick Creek Villas, according to police. Witnesses in the area say they heard multiple shots fired from a distance and saw a black Mercedes car being driven away, according to police.
